V-Day! 2012

Ok…. by now, everyone has already been by the grocery store, flower shop, party supply store, eaten cupcakes, cake balls, cried over some very special words written by that “special someone”, or are currently making a mad dash to purchase that “last minute” gift. This morning Alyanna, (my daughter) woke up at 5:15am to finish her Valentine’s Cards for her classmates.  She was so excited about how she was going to express her “love” to her friends, teachers, and other classmates. As i watched her, I was immediately taken to the following verse: But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners” Romans 5:8

God’s love for each of us is the ultimate!  How can we deny that!  I am thankful for the Love that my wife displays toward me, our children, our friends and family. I am also thankful that my kids desire to show love to their peers. But this Valentine’s day, let us not forget the ULTIMATE LOVER of our SOUL.

I LOVE Jesus!
I LOVE my Wife!
I LOVE my Kids!
I LOVE my Job!

Thank you God for all of the above. It is through you that I am able. Without you…. I am UNable.

I hope that you will be encouraged by this song from one of my favorite artist – Israel Houghton. It may be a little “old-school” but it holds a lot of truth. It has truly encouraged me today and reminded me of how amazing MY God is! Sing along… Enjoy!

Kids Ready!

Let me just say: “I love my kids!”
Tonight, Sylvia and I prayed for our kids school year, teachers, administrators and friends. God is going to do some awesome things thru them. They are so excited they can’t even sleep. Even though the kids are ready… I am also ready to see what God has in-store for them.

Speak!!!! Sing!!!! Do Something!

Eph. 5:19
19 ‘Speak to each other with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your hearts to the Lord.’
As I read this passage tonight, I had this thought…..
I NEVER go around singing to people but, I do sing to myself or out loud many times! Then I had this thought…” How do I feel when I do sing to myself or out loud??” The inspiration, the encouragement, the joy, the confidence when I am feeling down, the peace when I don’t know where to turn, the forgiveness and grace that I am able to see and feel when I sing about His blood, the cross, His death, His resurrection… WOW!!! Just typing that gave me goose-pimples!!!! So, if I feel those things when I sing to myself, how must OTHERS feel when we “SING” into them! This is what I mean….”Who are we speaking/singing “life” into?? Imagine the inspiration, encouragement, joy, confidence, peace,….you get the picture! Let’s NOT pass up any opportunity to “make music”. Sing into somebody.

Shameless Persistence

LUKE 11:8

8 But I tell you this—though he won’t do it for friendship’s sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.

How persistent are we?? Do we give up easily?
God is honored by or persistence. Keep asking! Keep praying! Keep knocking.
Let’s Do it.

Simple Reminder

Well, winter has come and gone. I absolutely love spring and summer. Some of the main reasons I love this season is that I have another opportunity to see Nathan play baseball. This year he is playing for the Bridgeport Astros. He is so excited. Another is that Alyanna is taking piano lessons. She just learned “London Bridges falling down” on the piano. Another…Sylvia just celebrated her birthday(25).THe best reason is that in April we will be married 16 years. I don’t know why she puts up with me…. Anyhow, I am truly blessed beyond measure.

The most important reason why I Love this season is that many years ago, a man named Jesus loved me so much that carried to the cross, all my sin,all my faults, and all my screw-ups. That’s why I call him Savior.
I know that without Christ I would be on course for death (Romans 6:23a). Yet because of Christ died for me I know that I have an eternal hope(Romans 6:23b). But I had to ask him to be the Lord of my life. Have you?
I know that I am far from perfect but God love me just the way I am. The best part about this time of the season?? Is that not only did Christ die for me, but He AROSE again on that Easter Sunday!!!!! THe Bible says: ” the same power that rose Jesus from the dead, lives in you and me” Now that is AWESOME!
Just needed to share.

Happy New Year!

What gifts can I honor Him with?
How about you? What gifts will you give Him?

Today marks our first anniversary here at GFC. I remember thinking about how would we be received? How would my kids be received? Will we be suitable for ministry? Just some common questions that go along with the territory. I have a gentleman that has tells me every Sunday morning
“You still have a job I see…” or “they decided to keep you around I guess..” Every week he just makes me laugh. I alway respond: “I am thankful!!” That I know for a fact!! I am thankful for all the wonderful GFC family that has surrounded me and my family with love and kindness. I AM THANKFUL. Those of you who always pray for us and want the best for us. I AM THANKFUL. For the lives that we as GFC are reaching for CHrist!! I AM THANKFUL. FOr the leadership and staff of this church. I AM SO THANKFUL. Why God chose someone like me with all my faults, failures, and and dirty laundry??? I don’t really know….but, I AM THANKFUL!!!!
